We've sent links to join that room 2 weeks upfront to our family and friends. So whoever is interested, may get our frequent updates with lots of .
We limited posting permissions to ourselves, others may react with emoticons. Anybody can mute notifications to keep distraction level low. The content will self-destruct in a month so that storage gets cleared again.
I do think that this is a very elegant solution to keep interested people up to date without annoying anybody.
